our weekend

Happy Monday! Normally this time of year we have quite chilly temperatures and sometimes even snow, so to have 70+ degree days a week into November is so much fun. We spent our weekend outside enjoying epic weather and adventuring around the city.

On Friday night, Dustin and I hosted our monthly small group in our home, with 9 couples total. I've shared before we colead a marriage group in our church alongside close friends of ours and this year we have had the opportunity to open our home for a small group and it has been such a joy. The night was complete with lots of festive treats, including mini pumpkin cheesecakes and homemade caramel corn (thanks to my best friend), my favorite family recipe rocky road fudge, a chips & salsa bar and hot cider. Having a cup of hot spiced cider was such a treat, something I definitely need to do more often this season! We had company until almost midnight and didn't get to bed ourselves until 1am. Thankfully the girls slept in until 8:30 on Saturday morning, but I still wonder how I used to stay up so late in college. I guess that was pre-kids and pre-pregnancy!!

On Saturday we had a lazy morning, made french toast and read lots of books with the girls. Poppy's favorite thing these days is to choose books, crawl over to me and sit in my lap with her baby doll and blanket while I read to her. It's so much fun seeing her love of reading come to life, just like her big sister. The weather was beautiful so we took a trip to a local nature center about 10 minutes from our home, one we had heard of but never been to. We had a wonderful time walking the miles of trails through the woods, seeing some wildlife and crunching leaves. We packed a little picnic for lunch and made plans to return soon!

On Sunday, we did some yard work (also known as Dustin and I raked while Olivia and Poppy ran through the piles), spent some time at the park and relaxed before the week ahead. How is it already November?! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!!
