How-to-Create-a-Luxurious-Home-on-a-Budget
Hello there Blessed Nest readers! My name is Jennifer and I am the Founder and Author of BlissfullyEverAfter.net and am so excited to be guest posting here today. A big thank you goes out to Megan for reaching out to me to share my top tips on How to Create a Luxurious Home on a Budget as part of her "House to Home" series.

For many of us, our homes are the place we feel most secure, comforted, welcomed, and loved. If you are anything like me, I feel that as a wife and a mother, it is my mission to create a great home for my family. But, what is a great home? Is it just having a nice house? No, I think that it does consist of having a nice place to come home to, but it doesn’t have to be the biggest, most beautiful, or most expensive home to feel that way. I believe creating a great home is more than just what the exterior looks like, what is hung on the walls, or how a person decorates. It consists of creating an overall feeling of well-being for our families and making sure their needs are met.

One way I like to spoil my family is by doing little, inexpensive things that make us feel luxurious even though we keep ourselves on a budget. It is my way of letting them know we can still create a blissful life~living on less! My husband never complains and in fact, always feels like we are living rich because we are happy, healthy, and feel very comfortable with what we have. It truly is one of the best feelings, to know that my family is happy and that what we are doing is working. Do any of you feel this same way? Isn’t it an awesome feeling!
Here are my Top 5 Tips on How to Create a Luxurious Home on a Budget:

1. Have fresh, clean bedding to sink into at night

I wash our bedding once a week and make our bed every. single. day. Why? Because I not only feel that this gets my day started off right by feeling motivated and ready to greet the day, but I also like looking at a pretty, made bed. It is also more inviting and relaxing to get into a pretty, made bed at night than one that looks messy, like the sheets haven’t been washed in weeks. When you can, purchase higher quality sheets {look for sales of course}, purchase quality pillows and blankets, comforters, and duvets. This will make your bed feel luxurious, you will get a better night’s sleep and feel refreshed in the morning! I also recommend purchasing a nice quality mattress whenever possible. Look for sales and if you need to, sell your old mattresses on places like Craigslist to use those funds towards a new purchase.

2. Have fresh, clean towels of spa quality {at budget prices} readily available

I also wash all of our laundry once a week {sometimes more often if needed} to make sure that we have clean clothes, towels, bedding, blankets, etc. I use a powerful, all natural whitener for my laundry, that has worked wonders on keeping whites white and fresh. I also treat spots immediately so that all of our linens stay clean and looking brand new for as long as possible. I purchase all of our towels in white and make sure they are spa quality but buy them when they are on sale. I like having matching towels and I love how soft and absorbent they are. Target, Costco, and TJMaxx are great places to find spa quality towels at budget friendly prices.

3. Have comfy throws & blankets throughout your home

I love having comfy throws and blankets in different rooms of our house because I know that when we want to curl up on the couch, cuddle with our son in his room while we rock him, or cuddle up on our bed with extra blankets, we always can find a blanket nearby to use. I have found some of my best throws and blankets from TJMaxx and Target for reasonable prices. Look for sales and remember you are looking for quality throws and blankets that will last.

4. Stock your fridge with healthy and yummy foods

I go grocery shopping once a week, usually it is on Thursdays. This is where I do all of my shopping for the future week and make sure we have enough items to get us through the weekend, where we tend to cook bigger meals for each meal. Fruits, veggies, breakfast items such as eggs, turkey bacon, cheeses, juice, yummy creamers for coffee, healthy dips such as hummus, avocados for guacamole, yogurts, water, lemons and mint for your water, deli meats, etc. These items will help you make delicious, healthy meals, and you will also have on the go items available to make your day go smoother. I love cooking breakfast for us on the weekends, especially on Sundays. This is a great time for us to spend together as a family and enjoy the food we worked hard to cook.

5. Clean house and declutter

This is the best tip I can provide that will instantly make your house feel more beautiful, luxurious, and inviting. I make sure to keep my home clean throughout the week, but pay special attention to it before the weekend when I know all of us will be spending quality time together in it. Read more about my weekly cleaning here and decide what a schedule might look like for you to meet you and your family’s needs. I have found that by doing a little bit each day really works for my schedule. It also keeps me from feeling overwhelmed at doing so many tasks at once, which in turn makes it easier for me to stay committed. By keeping up on the cleaning weekly, our house naturally feels cleaner, better, and is more inviting to us and our guests.

  2. Love the Hutch in the kitchen! I laughed about the towels, because after my husband and I went on our honeymoon he insisted that I make towel animals every night for him like our hostess on our cruise ship did. lol! Very helpful post indeed. <3
