Valentine's day recap

I hope ya'll had a lovely Valentine's weekend.
We definitely enjoyed ourselves all weekend long -- with good food, good conversation, and lots & lots of fun.

Here is a quick recap of what we've been up to the last few days.

On Thursday, my mom and I went to our monthly rubber stamping class and I made the card I would give Dustin for Valentine's Day, reminding him he is "my best mate" and my "true north." I love giving him Valentine's Day cards that aren't covered with red and pink so this was the perfect one.

On Friday, I slept in and Olivia and I read Valentine's books and I gave her the gifts we chose for her 1st Valentine's Day.

We also had some fun getting dressed up and taking lots of pictures.

On Friday evening, my wonderful mama babysat so Dustin and I could have a date night out. We went to one of our favorite new restaurants -- Redstone -- and enjoyed the most amazing rotisserie chicken, asiago mashed potatoes & brown sugar glazed carrots. (I'm already planning the next time we can go back!)

Being that it was love day & all, we couldn't pass up dessert so we tried the deconstructed banana cream pie. Honestly, one of the best desserts I've had in my entire life (and that is saying a lot!)

Afterward, we went home and spent some time relaxing and talking, and of course playing with Olivia. I went upstairs to change after dinner and there were two beautiful gifts and a card sitting on the bed for me. I had suspected the lulu sweater wrap was coming but I was surprised with what was in the Sephora bag. Dustin definitely hit a home run -- gifts and words of affirmation are my top two love languages!

We put Olivia to bed & then ended the night by candlelight.

Saturday was super relaxing, as there was a big snowstorm. I spent the morning with V so Dustin could hit the gym and run errands. When Olivia napped, so did I -- we both slept for 3 hours straight! It was such a treat to take a long nap; I haven't done that in what feels like ages.
For dinner we made one of our favorite meals -- skuna bay salmon & sweet potato waffle fries. After V went to bed, we snuggled up downstairs to watch the movie "About Time." I have to say it is one of the most wonderful movies that I've seen in a long time and I would highly recommend it!

Today I enjoyed time to myself -- running errands, baking, reading. Definitely a perfect Sunday. I've got a new cookie recipe in the oven and my parents are coming over for a big pan of lasagna and some great conversation tonight. Our Valentine's weekend was wonderful & I hope yours was too!

Xo.
